Roman Forum and Palatine: frequently asked questions

Is this the official website of the Roman Forum?

No. Colosseum Visit is an independent visitor guide. The Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine are run by the Parco archeologico del Colosseo, which sells its tickets on ticketing.colosseo.it. The tickets and tours featured here are sold by our partner Tiqets, a third party.

Does the Colosseum ticket include the Roman Forum and the Palatine?

Yes. The 24-hour ticket gives one entry to the Colosseum and one to the Forum and Palatine area, which you can use on the same day or within 24 hours before or after your Colosseum time. With a Full Experience ticket, you can go on the same day, the day before or the day after.

What is the Forum Pass SUPER?

A one-day ticket, 18 €, for the Roman Forum, the Palatine, the Imperial Forums and the SUPER sites, without the Colosseum and without a time slot. Online it can be used within 30 days of purchase, and not on the free first Sunday of the month.

Which sites need the SUPER ticket?

The Temple of Romulus, the Domus Tiberiana exhibition rooms, Santa Maria Antiqua, the Curia Iulia, the Palatine Museum, the Aula Isiaca with the Mattei Loggia, the House of Augustus and the Horrea Piperataria. Holders of the 24-hour ticket can add one entry for 4 €. Access is limited.

Is the House of Livia open?

No. The House of Livia has been closed for restoration since 24 August 2026, and the official site gives no reopening date. The Domus Transitoria is not open to visitors, and the House of Augustus is closed on Mondays.

Do I need a time slot for the Forum and the Palatine?

No. The Forum and Palatine area is open at a free time, from 9:00 until the last entry, one hour before closing. Only the Colosseum entry has a booked time.

Where do I enter the Palatine?

At via di San Gregorio 30. The Forum can be entered from the Arch of Titus, Largo della Salara Vecchia 5/6, via del Tulliano and via del Foro Romano, and the Via Sacra can be reached from Piazza del Colosseo.

Is the Domus Aurea included?

No. The Domus Aurea has a separate ticket, 18 € (26 € with the educational route and virtual reality), and opens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is closed on the first Sunday of the month.

Can I leave and come back in?

The Park describes the tickets as one entry to the Colosseum and one access to the Forum and Palatine area, so re-entry does not seem to be provided. The official site does not state this as an explicit rule.

Can I bring a dog?

Not into the Colosseum or the closed areas, except guide dogs and therapy dogs with documents. In the open areas of the Forum and the Palatine, small dogs are allowed in a carrier. The FAQ gives a weight between 5 and 10 kg, and the Regulations say under 10 kg. Dog strollers are not allowed.

Can I take photos?

Yes, for personal use. Tripods, selfie sticks, drones and professional equipment are not allowed without authorisation, and commercial use of images is governed by the Park's reproduction regulations.

Is the Palatine accessible?

The Park says it is not especially difficult, but it has steep and uneven stretches. The Palatine Museum has a lift and two stair lifts, and golf carts for visitors with reduced mobility can be booked. Wheelchairs are available at the main entrances.
