By metro

Line B stops at Colosseo, and the station opened on 10 February 1955, according to Wikipedia. The Park also lists line C, at Colosseo-Fori Imperiali, which according to public sources opened on 16 December 2025 and is now the end of the line. We could not check the exit for the square: look at the station signs.

By bus and tram

The Park lists buses 51, 75, 81, 85, 87 and 118 and tram 3 for the Colosseum. Its pages do not link to the transport company, so check the lines and the fares on atac.roma.it before you go.

From Roma Termini

Take Metro line B towards Laurentina: Colosseo is the second stop after Termini, with Cavour in between. The two places are about 1.4 km apart in a straight line. We did not read the ATAC fares, so check the ticket price.

From Fiumicino airport

The Leonardo Express is a non-stop Trenitalia train from the airport to Roma Termini in 32 minutes, with departures about every 15 minutes, and in some time bands every 30, according to Trenitalia. We could not confirm the fare, so check trenitalia.com. From Termini, take Metro line B.

From Ciampino airport

Trenitalia's Ciampino Airlink is a bus without intermediate stops that takes 10 minutes from the airport to Ciampino station, followed by a train to Roma Termini. Trenitalia quotes 2.70 € for the combined trip and 1.20 € for the bus alone. From Termini, take Metro line B.

Entrances

With the 24-hour ticket and the Full Experience tickets you enter the Colosseum at the gate by the Arch of Constantine, called the Valadier spur. The Only Arena visit enters and leaves on the Stern spur side. Tickets bought at the ticket offices give access to the Colosseum only through the gate for individual visitors.

There are ticket offices in Piazza del Colosseo, near the Temple of Venus and Roma, and in Largo della Salara Vecchia.

On foot and by car

As the crow flies, the Arch of Constantine is about 170 m from the Colosseum, the Palatine entrance in via di San Gregorio about 390 m and the Forum entrance in Largo della Salara Vecchia about 440 m. The Circus Maximus is about 760 m, the Capitoline Museums about 830 m and Piazza Venezia about 990 m.

The official site gives no parking information, so we do not suggest a car park.
